My experience with Laura Ely and health counseling was life changing. Before working with Laura, I didn’t pay much attention to what I ate, or why I ate it or how the food I ate affected my day to day existence. Since completing the program I am much more aware and conscious of not only how food affects my life, but how all aspects of my life influence each other. The follow up meetings were invaluable in helping to understand my motivation and to keep me on the positive track. Laura’s understanding ear and expertise is a marvelous combination and helped me succeed and feel confident in my choices, not only with food but in all aspects of my life. I know I would not have exposed myself to some of the wonderful food choices that now are part of my regular grocery plan without Laura’s encouragement. Not only has my life changed, but my family’s eating habits and attitude toward food has been altered drastically in a positive manner. I highly recommend the program to anyone who is seeking to eat and feel better.
Working with Laura was a great experience. Laura’s light and easy-going style, combined with her knowledge and skill helped me focus on supporting myself with diet and lifestyle through a significant health challenge. She is very informative and supportive and I loved the recipes! Self-care is one of my weak points and Laura’s ability to be relaxed and still directive made it fun to find the stick-to-it-ness that I needed. I recommend Laura highly!
Before working with Laura Ely, my main concerns were my weight and my blood sugar. .I am 5’8” tall and weighed 250 pounds and I had elevated blood sugar levels. I knew that I did not want to become a diabetic while in my thirties and that changes needed to be made to my lifestyle. During the program with Laura, I learned about the kind of food that I should be putting into my body and thinking of food as “fuel” for my system. Laura concentrated on teaching me about fresh and organic eating, eating whole foods, and being careful of the additives that are in a lot of the foods that I was fond of. Laura came to my home and showed me the foods that were healthy that I was eating as well as the foods that would not help me in my quest to change my eating habits. Laura and I either met or had a telephone conference once a week from January 2009 until recently. I am happy to say that I had many positive changes occur while working with Laura. I went from 250 pounds down to 197 pounds. After going to my doctor, I learned that my blood sugar levels stabilized to a healthy and not-at-risk level. I now have more energy and am more aware of the foods that I am putting into my body. I exercise daily and have become a healthier individual overall because of my work with Laura Ely. I would recommend Laura to anyone that is looking to make positive and healthy choices in their life.
I wish I had done this program with Laura Ely years ago. I knew my eating habits were very uh-healthy, but I didn’t know how to make the changes that would put me on the road to a lifetime of eating healthy foods. During the program with Laura I learned about foods I had never heard of. I learned to prepare meals that would help me maintain a diet that would benefit me for the rest of my life. Along with the positive change in nutrition, I started to exercise more, because I didn’t feel so tired. My level of energy improved so that I was able to exercise more and I began to feel so much better. I’m glad that I did the nutrition program
Before working with Laura my main health challenge was I ate when I was not hungry and I did not eat foods that fueled my body. During the program I am trying new things that I would not have tried if Laura had not demonstrated how to use them. Now I have lost 30 pounds and gained lots more energy and focus. Before working with Laura my main health challenge was to find fat free, sugar free and low cal foods to help me lose weight. None of it really worked unless I ate very little. After going through the program with Laura I learned how wrong my eating habits were. You taught me to look for real food. You taught me how to look at the best foods possible for me to eat, how to prepare it. Not to diet, but to enjoy eating and have fun with foods. I now have lost weight, I read labels, I look for healthy choices, fruits vegetables, greens, grains. I now know how good all of these foods really taste without covering them with a lot of “Junk”. I walk every day, which I never did before
